Saturday 27th July: Alex Noble's ‘Pandora’s Box’

A few months ago when I was taking part in a jumble sale, Alex Noble came down to visit me and was very excited to have purchased some robot toy masks.  Now I can see the outcome of what he had in mind and how he has transformed one into a totally cosmic and awesome sculpture.   ‘Creatures From The Kaleidoscope’ is an upcoming exhibition which Alex previewed with this mannequin, unveiling to spectators for one night only on the Viewing Platform at King’s Cross.  The event was titled ‘Pandora’s Box’ as a follow up to an initial fashion film "Color Therapy" as a teaser.  All of these new works are a psychedelic, sci fi discussion on notions of existence, spirituality and its imagery in a branded objectified culture.  The film specifically focuses on the power and energy of colour and patterns, surrealism and psychedelia.

‘Creatures From The Kaleidoscope’, opening this autumn at East London’s Londonewcastle Project Space on Redchuch Street, marks a return for Noble from fashion designer to a multi-disciplined visual artist. Through large-scale artwork, sculpture, installation and performance it takes you on a journey into a visceral aesthetic where science, colour, spirituality and beauty merge into one. Curated by Ryan Lanji, the exhibition will delve deep into the mind of Noble and display his visual stamp, which is steadily becoming iconic in both Fashion and Art.

Friday 26th July: KESH vs. American Apparel London launch

Yesterday London girl KESH returned home for the UK launch of her line for American Apparel with both an in-store private reception on Oxford Street and an after-party at Casa Negra in Shoreditch hosted by Grace LaDoja.  Here are snaps from the first stint with Larry B on the decks who continued on to play a stellar set at Grace's 'Sang Bleu Dance Party'.
Kesh has come a long way since the days of making her own milkshake and K logo print tees when she started out in London as part of the Coconut Twins with Zezi Ifore.  Its so exciting to see her  artistic empire grow and the success story of her transatlantic takeover.  Gwarn KESH!!
Buy her AA garms here.

Thurs 25th July: Margot Bowman at Wonderlust, PARIS

Last weekend Margot Bowman joined the TEST PRESENTS takeover of Wonderlust in Paris for a workshop exploring reinvention & appropriation in fashion.  "Breathing new life into old things and using conventional materials in unconventional ways"  was the brief for which Margot invented her own "Symbols for Modern City living" as an exploration of what the modern mythology of urban life looks like.  Screen printed at London's Print Club,  these graphic patches carried tongue-in-cheek messages representing a different good luck aspect  "Love at first site on the metro, Protecting your bike when its locked up outside, The ability to find interesting art openings with free bars & Good luck finding wifi to download attachments and stream content." Margot designed all the patches to be wearable so visitors to the workshop could add them to their clothes bringing this new mythology into their worlds and make it real as we all need a bit of magic to get us through modern city living!!  Here you can see UK Vogue creative director Jamie Perlman with her Free WIFI patch safety-pinned on her bag and Margot on the tools cutting them out.  Louise Gray and Richard Sloan were also in the line-up of the evening's events having been part of the programme before - so if you are in Paris check the agenda for future al-fresco pop-up events and film screenings!

Tues 23rd July: "Bring Your Own Beamer" BoilerRoom "Make Session"

Last night 28 local artists took their projectors to a warehouse space in East London to decorate the walls with a cosmic flashing backdrop for the most recent BoilerRoom Make Session.  This concept was the mastermind of Rafael Rozendaal and his "Bring Your Own Beamer" touring exhibition which landed in London for this internationally streamed gig.  Here are some of the films by Rosy Nicholas, Akinola Davies, Chrissie Abbott, Rhys Coren and my own which was an edited compilation of my fashion films directed by Elisha Smith Leverock.  If you missed the live transmission of DJ Drama, Giggs, Blackfoot Phoenix and Mark Ronson, head over to BoilerRoom to find the on-demand footage coming soon.
