Friday 27th June: Hermes Silk Ball

Last evening Hermes took over the ornate Koko music hall venue in Camden for a "Silk Ball" with the venue decorated with back-drops of their silk scarves and patterns.  Susie Bubble hosted the mask fancy-dress party and invited guests such as Ryan Lo, Claire Barrow and Gary Card (seen here).  In my snaps above is also Bethan Laura Wood who is not only famous for always wearing a silk scarf (or 2, or 3) but has also been recently working with Hermes on their windows.  ................ see more here.

Tues 24th June: "Urban Archaeology": 21 Years of Mo' Wax

2013/14 marks the 21st anniversary of the birth of legendary UK label Mo'Wax, set up by James Lavelle in 1992.  As part of his Meltdown festival curated for The Southbank Centre is an archive retrospective exhibition "Urban Archaeology"  including previously unseen proofs and artwork.   Here are snaps of some of the personal memorabilia on show, as well as the non-musical collaborations including collectible toys by Medicom and UNKLE edition Nike.  The display not only charts the achievements of Mo'Wax and its artists, but also documents the label's impact on youth culture during the 1990's.  It certainly had a big impression and mark on my growing up - listening to DJShadow in my VW Camper Van when I first began driving aged 17 in Essex - such a powerful and beautiful album that still sends shivers down my spine when I hear it.  Alongside that record sleeve in the display are releases from Attica Blues, who were another contemporary act from London with Rundemcrew's founder Charlie Dark as one of the band's trio............... which neatly ties into a great deal of my running related regular posts........... who knew.......... timeless ..........
