Friday 29th May: Air Fresheners Of The Apocalypse

Re-think the Magic Tree!  Beach Gallery have teamed up with Bompas & Parr for an exhibition of scented Air Fresheners illustrated by 10 talents including Jim Stoten, Rob Flowers and Marcus Oakley whose spectrum I snapped here.   Last evening's private view also had a lucky-dip grunge-tank for the complete Apocalyptic experience.  Dig Deep!

Friday 29th May: Bold Tendencies 2015 w/ YAM Radio

It's that time of year again - long Summer's evenings to enjoy the South panoramic view of the city from the top of Bold Tendencies sculpture show.  For 2015 that top-most space has been turned over to one artist Richard Wentworth who has painted a swirling silver chrome line across the entire car park roof.  Down the ramp on the floor below is this installation of colourful pigment cones by Metahaven, curated by Attilia Fattori Franchini.  There's a secondary space for feasting with the new Ali Baba Snack Bar to back up the popular patronage of Franks Cafe.  In the hay-bail auditorium is a residency from local record shop YAM who are firing up a radio station to broadcast live as a soft launch for their new frequency.  The three day schedule of selectors programmed by DJ Gilla of First Word Records includes Andrew Ashong, Rhythm Section, Mr.Thing, Charlie Dark, Marshmello & One Handed Music (Mo Kolors, Alex Chase, Paul White) snapped here.  Tune into the new venture's stream here.  Keep following the official launch announcement at their Facebook

Check the Bold Tendencies site for details on all aspects of the show till 27th September, including the Derek Jarman Garden, Roof Top Yoga, Copeland Book Market and Hot Roof Gigs by Hannah T-W.

Whilst you are in Peckham pop into the YAM record shop to pick up a copy of CKTRL's new EP "Forest" and visit Bosse & Baum Gallery to hear Coby Sey's soundtrack for the show "Congregation".

Weds 27th May: Monki X Lynnie Zulu - Work In Progress

Here are some Work In Progress / Behind The Scenes snaps that Lynnie Zulu has sent over of her sketchbook and studio.  You can see how her archive of illustrations have informed the repeat patterns that became the prints for the MONKI collection.  Her signature watermelon emblem has become the main theme of the artwork tying together the accessories to garments.  It's kind of Josephine Baker meets Carmen Miranda for a 21st Century cosmopolitan roof top, swimming-pool disco!!!
Follow her daydreamy lush Tumblr of inspiration imagery here.

Weds 27th May: Monki X Lynnie Zulu

In just one year I have gone from featuring Lynnie Zulu's illustrations at Pick Me Up to her very own collection launching at MONKI.  Her tropical style has been converted into cosmic clobber in this collaboration for S/S essentials with swimwear, cropped tees and a bucket hat.  My favourite piece is the hand of bananas as a clutch bag!  Here are also the transparent socks which is a photo I have taken from Magda's Instagram to demonstrate how they look!
Lynnie has drawn in the window display of the Carnaby Street flagship store which launched the line last week with these BonBonBalloons.  Check out the full range online here.

Tuesday 26th May: Zandra Rhodes Rainbow Loft Sample Sale

This Bank Holiday the colourful network of London designers took over Zandra Rhodes Rainbow Penthouse for a sample sale. Here is Bethan Wood camouflaged perfectly into the surroundings wearing some Zandra Rhodes prints.  I tried on a Piers Atkinson PomPom headband and got some cosmic rainbow cable covers from the Auria swimwear stall.  Kitty Joseph had selections of her archive and printed t-shirts, socks and dip-dyed acrylic accessories.  Andrew Logan's beautiful mosaic mirrored jewellery was also on view which I always covet like crazy - especially the massive chunky bangles.  Classic.

Check out Bethan's installation for Tory Burch "Lettuce entertain you" here
